I miei primi 6 mesi a Siderno: Una montagna russa di emozioni!

A marzo è iniziata la mia avventura dopo aver accettato un progetto di volontariato per venire a vivere a Siderno, un paese nel sud della Calabria. Questi primi sei mesi sono stati come una montagna russa di emozioni, ma ogni giorno sono più sicura di aver preso la decisione giusta. Tutti i giorni ho il privilegio di lavorare con i bambini che mi contagiano con la loro felicità e mi fanno imparare tanto, attraverso la loro curiosità. All’interno dell’YMCA ho lo spazio e l’opportunità di poter contribuire con le mie idee e sviluppare diversi progetti. Inoltre, ho avuto la fortuna di conoscere gente, dentro e fuori dal lavoro, che porterò nel mio cuore per il resto della vita. Queste persone mi hanno mostrato la loro cultura, le tradizioni e mi hanno fatta sentire integrata nella comunità sidernese. Sono sicura che il volontariato dell’European Soludarity Corps è un’opportunità che tutti i giovani europei dovrebbero provare, per uscire dalla loro “comfort zone” e arricchirsi con questa esperienza che è unica.

In March it started the adventure after accepting a volunteering project to live in a town in the south of Calabria. These first six months have been like a rollercoaster of emotions, but each day I feel more certain that I made the right decision. Every day I have the privilege of working with children that spread their joy and make me learn through their infinite curiosity. In the YMCA I have the space and the opportunity to contribute with my own ideas and develop different projects. Moreover, I have been lucky to meet people, inside and outside of work, that I will take with me for the rest of my life. These people have shown me their culture, traditions and have made me feel welcomed in their community. I am sure that the European Solidarity Corps’ volunteering is an opportunity that the European youth should try, in order to get out of their comfort zone and enrich themselves with this unique experience.
